| Help "Repair the Rock" | Events Calendar 2013 | |||||||
 For some time, our Rock Island passenger coach has been sidelined. This is significant not only because it limits our capacity during special events such as our Day Out With Thomas, but it is also our only passenger car with handicap accessibility. Without it, persons using walkers and wheelchairs are unable to ride our train. Necessary repairs to the car will cost upwards of $50,000.  One way you can help to "Repair the Rock" is by purchasing this special t-shirt. The shirts are available in youth sizes from small to large, and adult sizes from small to 3X. The shirts are available in yellow, black, white, or red, with jewel colors of clear, black, yellow, red, or pink. | Celebrating 30 Years! |
| This
year marks the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad's 30th year of
operations. Over the next several months, we will be sharing
photographs and stories highlighting our 30 years as Iowa's Scenic
Line. Below: Our first year began with the signing of the paperwork making the purchase of the line from the Chicago & North Western Railway official. -- July, 1983.  |
| Volunteers Needed! |
 As a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization, the Iowa Railroad Historical Society is always looking for folks who are interested in giving of their time, and helping to carry on our mission to preserve Iowa's railroad history. Whether you are interested in telling our passengers the story of our line as a tour guide, selling snacks in our snack bar, selling tickets at our ticket windows, welcoming visitors to our museum, or becoming involved in train service as a conductor or an engineer, volunteer opportunities are available right now! Our tight-knit group of seasoned volunteers are always happy to lend a hand to new volunteers, and to help them attain their goals.
