DINNER TRAIN The dinner train arrives at Wolf

Enjoy a relaxing two hour scenic ride through
through the Des Moines River Valley in climate-controlled comfort aboard the historic "City of San Francisco" or "City of Los Angeles" cars, enjoying elegant dining as it was on the trains of the 50's. 

In 2008, trains will be running on Saturdays from April 5th through November 22nd, and on Fridays from June 6th through October 31st. The train boards on Friday and Saturday evenings at 5:15pm. Tickets for 2008 are $55.00 per person, and prepaid reservations are required (your card will be charged at the time you make your reservation).

Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are accepted.

Reservations for Friday and Saturday night dinner trains must be placed before noon on Wednesday.

Quick-seared chicken breast, baked with a butter and garlic marinade. Topped with marsala sauce and mushrooms.
Served with rice pilaf.

Marinated Salmon Steak

Generous serving of baked salmon, prepared with a lemon-herb sauce.
Served with rice pilaf.


Vegetarian Lasagna
A five cheese lasagna: ricotta, cottage cheese, parmesan, romano, topped with mozzarella.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND POLICIES

RESERVATIONS:  Reservations are required. Your credit card will be charged at the time you make your reservation.  Generally, we recommend booking your trip at least one month in advance. During the months of September through December, we strongly recommend booking at least three months in advance. Seating is limited. Reservations for Friday and Saturday night dinner trains must be placed before noon on Wednesday. You can expect to receive your confirmation letter within two to three days of making your reservation.

MEAL CHOICES: You must provide us with your meal choices at least seven days prior to your trip.

THE RIDE: The "City of San Francisco" car features a rear observation deck. The "City of Los Angeles" features the elegant appointments of the 1950’s. Both offer a a wonderful view as we roll through the hills, across the Bass Point Creek high bridge, and through the Des Moines River valley. Don’t forget your camera!

ATTIRE: Although many men choose to wear a suit or sport coat, they are not required. We do request a "Nice Casual" attire, such as Dockers and a nice shirt or sweater for the men and slacks and top or casual dress for the ladies. This is your evening to relax and enjoy yourself, but it should also be special.

WHEN TO ARRIVE: Please plan to arrive by 5:00. We will start boarding shortly thereafter. The train will depart promptly at 5:30 p.m. Keep in mind that your arrival at the Boone & Scenic Valley Depot may be delayed 10 to 20 minutes by Union Pacific freight trains. Please check in at the ticket window when you arrive. You will receive your tickets at that time.

SMOKING IS PROHIBITED ON ALL BOONE AND SCENIC VALLEY RAILROAD TRAINS

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Although the B&SVRR and our caterer are not licensed to sell or serve liquor, each couple may bring one bottle of wine to enjoy with their meal. There will be a $5.00 "corking" fee per bottle. This is a requirement of our insurance company. Corking fees need to be paid prior to the date of your ride. Please "check" your wine at the ticket window upon arrival at the depot.

CHANGES/CANCELLATIONS: Cancellation notifications and date change requests must be received at the B&SVRR office at least (7) days prior to the ride. Cancellation policies are strictly enforced.

WEATHER POLICY: If a train is cancelled due to bad weather, gift cards will be issued – No Cash Refunds. The decision to run or not is based on conditions at the railroad. If the train runs, no refunds or adjustments are made.


This train is not handicap accessible.
